ITRODUCTIO
The fifteenth Annual Report of the Network of Concerned Historians (NCH) contains news about the
domain where history and human rights intersect, especially about the censorship of history and the
persecution of historians around the globe, as reported by various human rights organizations and
other sources. The fact that NCH presents this news does not imply that it shares the views and
beliefs of the historians and others mentioned in it. This Annual Report and all previous Annual
Reports were compiled by Antoon De Baets and revised by Ingrid Sennema. Please send any
comments to <antoondebaets@concernedhistorians.org>.

After three years of research, I wrote a manuscript. That manuscript can be found at the hub located on this page. It is around 16,000 maybe a little more or so words but worth your time.... Please take the time to READ it when you get the chance. Personally, I couldn't think of a better way to share what I had learned or to promote the significance of global respect for humanity. The word HAD to get out to share with those that will listen, just what this notion of human rights is at least partially, really, all about. Why not find out what is going on in the world all around you at this very second?

Human Rights groups also commonly referred to as Non-Governmental Organizations, operate based largely upon activist funding, and began to emerge on the political venue, largely a result of a new guaranty of inspirational hope. There was a need for an organization to keep a watchful eye open during the cold war years.(remember them?) A "concrete" definition of human rights have been proclaimed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights(UDHR) which was drafted and "proclaimed" in 1948. This monumental document of the century, in terms of international and global relevance, was inspired largely by the first lady of the United States at that time, Mrs. Roosevelt. Of course other amazing intellects assisted this endeavor while reeling from the atrocities of that most recent world war. There were unrelenting emotions running high globally, and questions about humanity in general amongst the entire world that had paid attention. What conditions could have allowed this devastating failure of the rights of humanity? Political scholars and international experts tend to agree; that these atrocities were a result of an unparalleled modern day, world war! Unremarkable amounts of questions arise regarding the legality, validity, and international significance of this document today.(or don't they) Question? Can this universally new, (60 years)proclamation, which scholars agree is indeed the best definition of basic human rights ever put forth, really be considered to be "rights"? What about the right to own a beautiful swimming pool in your backyard oasis?
